ABIC SafeSkin™ Certification Clinic/Salon/Spa (businesses with staff)

This option is perfect for our clinics/salons/spa and management members. 

How it works: Complete the assessment via your dashboard by uploading required policies, procedures, consents, training records, and safety documentation. Members can use ABIC resources in our library or preloaded resources directly in your dashboard to help close any gaps.


Audit & renewal: Certification is valid for 12 months and may be subject to a spot audit during the certification year prior to renewal.

It's designed for business owners with staff.  Your dashboard and the ABIC resource library, this option provides an efficient way to validate your documents and expedite your assessment. Participants should be prepared to provide additional documentation if audited during their certification year, prior to renewal.

ABIC SafeSkin™ Certification for Sole Operators

This option is perfect for our professional members who are sole operators.

How it works: Complete the assessment via your dashboard by uploading required policies, procedures, consents, training records, and safety documentation. Members can use ABIC resources in our library or preloaded resources directly in your dashboard to help close any gaps.


Audit & renewal: Certification is valid for 12 months and may be subject to a spot audit during the certification year prior to renewal.

Multi-Clinic (for members only)

ABIC members receive further discounts when certifying multiple clinic locations. If you have more than one clinic,  receive your exclusive member pricing for SafeSkin™ certification on your first clinic and receive 50% off each additional clinic.

Purchase ABIC SafeSkin™ Clinic/Spa/Salon Certification for $499 and pay only $249.50 for each additional clinic.  Important Note: To qualify for a multi-clinic discount, all clinic/salon/spa locations must operate under the same business name.

How to Get Certified: What’s Required?

Achieving SafeSkin™ Certification is straightforward, allowing you to quickly and efficiently start and complete your certification through these simple steps.

Review the 9 Categories

SafeSkin™ Certification is divided into 9 categories, each containing specific requirements. These categories cover all essential aspects of safety and compliance for your business.

Complete the Checklist

  • Follow the “Actions to Take” for each line (select Yes/No, upload evidence, add links, or reply in the chat).

  • Upload evidence to reach 100 points per category (keep other required docs on file and mark Yes).

  • Add photos/video where requested (e.g., premises walkthrough).

  • Tick the Applicant Declaration to finish the category.

  • Audit: You may be asked later to show any items you marked Yes but didn’t upload.

Certification Audit

During your certification year, you may undergo an audit where additional documentation will be requested for items checked off in the checklist but not initially submitted. It's critical to present these documents during an audit to maintain your certified status.

Once certified, you will receive your SafeSkin™ Certified Decal for the completed year and be listed on our ABIC SafeSkin™ Directory.

Can I use ABIC resources as part of my assessment process?

Yes, if you don't already have the necessary resources, we recommend utilising the ABIC resources provided to ensure you meet the required certification standards.  You can find these resources pre-loaded on your dashboard or in the ABIC resource library.

What are the requirements to become ABIC SafeSkin™ Certified?

To qualify for ABIC SafeSkin™ Certification, you must either hold relevant industry qualifications or be actively working towards completing them.

You must meet the required standards for certification for all relevant sections.

What happens if I am not satisfactory in certain sections of the ABIC SafeSkin™ Certification assessment ?

It is imperative that all sections meet the required standards for certification.

Our ABIC Team are dedicated to assisting you in meeting your requirements.  If you require any support, reach out to the team and we can arrange a one-on-one call or zoom to go through any areas you might be struggling with. 

What does it mean if I receive a "Further Evidence is Required (FER)" notification?

If you receive a "Further Evidence is Required (FER)" this means you have not completed the requirement and you are required to provide the evidence requested.

Do I need to upload all required documents to be ABIC SafeSkin™ certified?

You need to upload documentation totalling  100 points.

Each section requires a minimum of two documents to be uploaded. Additionally, you will need to select YES to confirm that you have all the other required documents for the remaining sub-items. These documents marked YES are subject to audit and must be provided upon request.

How can I get help and guidance while completing my assessment?

What does "subject to audit" mean in the context of the assessment?

"Subject to audit" means that a member of the ABIC Team may conduct audits of your business to verify compliance. During an audit, you may be asked to provide evidence of the required fields that were marked available in any of the sections.

What happens if I don't complete the assessment within six weeks?

While we recommend completing the assessment within six weeks, we understand that business demands can vary. However, timely completion is essential for certification, so it's best to aim for completion within the recommended timeframe. Please request an extension if you are unable to do so.

What happens if my clinic/salon/spa does not pass the SafeSkin™ Certification?

In the event your Clinic/Salon or Spa does not fully meet the SafeSkin™ certification criteria, ABIC reserves the right to grant a provisional or partial approval.  A detailed recommendation will be provided outlining the specific criteria required to achieve full SafeSkin™ certification.  The applicant will have up to six (6) months from the date of the provisional decision to meet these criteria.  Failure to fulfil the required standards within this timeframe will result in a final decision of non-certification/no pass.

Do you offer refunds if I do not meet the standards?

ABIC does not offer refunds for the SafeSkin™ Certification program.  This certification is structured not only as an assessment but also as a comprehensive guideline to help applicants meet the industry's benchmark standards.

Resources, guidance and support are provided to assist applicants in achieving SafeSkin™ Certification.  In some cases, applicants may need to acquire additional resources licences, or education to meet these standards.  If the applicant chooses not to obtain the necessary resources to fulfil SafeSkin™ certification requirements, certification will be denied and no refund will be issued.

Staying Certified

To remain certified, renew your SafeSkin™ Certification every 12 months.

This ensures your business complies with the latest safety and regulatory changes.

The renewal process involves a simple audit of your initial assessment, focusing on any updated requirements or review of any additional documentation.

What is the frequency of renewal for ABIC SafeSkin™ Certification?

Certification is renewed annually with our automated renewal subscription to ensure businesses remain compliant and stay up-to-date with ongoing business and legislative requirements.
