SafeSkin™ Certification is divided into 8 categories, each containing specific requirements. These categories cover all essential aspects of safety and compliance for your business.

Gather Documentation

For each category, provide a minimum of 2 pieces of documentation totalling 100 points. Ensure each document is accurate and up-to-date, as they serve as evidence of meeting the required standards.

Complete the Checklist

Within each category, complete the checklist by uploading the required documentation directly to your SafeSkin™ dashboard. Your assessor will review these documents. Indicate that you have all other necessary documentation in the same category by ticking the appropriate checkboxes. This confirms to the assessor that your category is ready for review.

Certification Audit

During your certification year, you may undergo an audit where additional documentation will be requested for items checked off in the checklist but not initially submitted. It's critical to present these documents during an audit to maintain your certified status.

Once certified, you will receive your SafeSkin™ Certified Decal for the completed year and be listed on our ABIC SafeSkin™ Directory.

Yes, if you don't already have the necessary resources, we recommend utilising the ABIC resources provided to ensure you meet the required certification standards.

Only ABIC members have access to preloaded resources in their dashboard. The level of access depends on your membership type. If you're having trouble accessing resources, reach out to ABIC Facilitators for assistance.

It is imperative that all sections meet the required standards for certification.

Our ABIC Facilitators are dedicated to assisting you in meeting your requirements. Our weekly information sessions and guided certification program are specifically designed to support applicants in fulfilling the necessary criteria. 

If you receive a "Further Evidence is Required (FER)" notification, you will have two weeks to finalise your documents and implement the required fields to meet the certification requirements.

Each section requires a minimum of two documents to be uploaded. Additionally, you will need to mark the checkbox to confirm that you have all the required documents for the remaining sub-items. These checkbox documents are subject to audit and must be provided upon request.

We highly encourage active participation in our weekly online group Zoom meetings, designed to provide assistance and guidance. To ensure personalised support tailored to your needs, you can book into sessions and submit your questions ahead of time.

Upgrade to ABIC SafeSkin™ Certification (GUIDED) for additional hours of personalised one-on-one guidance with ABIC Facilitators.

"Subject to audit" means that ABIC facilitators may conduct audits of your business to verify compliance. During an audit, you may be asked to provide evidence of the required fields that were marked available in any of the sections.

While we recommend completing the assessment within six weeks, we understand that business demands can vary. However, timely completion is essential for certification, so it's best to aim for completion within the recommended timeframe. Please request an extension if you are unable to do so.

Certification is a streamlined approach utilising your dashboard and ABIC Resource Library to validate your documents and expedite your assessment.

Certification  (GUIDED) includes personalised support and additional tools and resources to help you through the certification process, available exclusively to members.

To remain certified, renew your SafeSkin™ Certification every 12 months.

This ensures your business complies with the latest safety and regulatory changes.

The renewal process involves a simple audit of your initial assessment, focusing on any updated requirements or review of any additional documentation.

Certification is renewed annually with our automated renewal subscription to ensure businesses remain compliant and stay up-to-date with ongoing business and legislative requirements.

Upon successful renewal, you will receive a new Certification Decal for the subsequent year and your business listing updated on our SafeSkin™ Directory.
